September 7, 2010 "First Day of School"

Sent my Lois of to school this morning with book bag, paper bags, purse and tea-to-go..."first day of school" for teachers too. Lois has been at school on-and-off for two weeks getting ready for this day and now it's here. Prayers go out for all the teachers, students, aides and staff as they help teach our children. It is a great calling to serve in the education of our children.

An Old Testament verse comes to mind as we are all called to teach and raise up our children in Christ. Renew our covenant today as parents, grand parents or great-grand parents to teach our children "the Way" of the LORD.

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

4"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
